The Lightning Thief: Book vs. Movie

I have compiled the differences between the book and the movie of "Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief". This isn't complete, of course, as there were so many differences. This post isn't to say or point out which one's better.

I love both the books and the movies.

Book	Movie
Percy Jackson was 12 years old.	Portrayed by Logan Lerman, Percy was sixteen years of age.
Mrs. Dodds was Percy’s pre-Algebra teacher.	Mrs. Dodds was his substitute English teacher.
Mrs. Dodds transformed into a Fury and attacked Percy. Mr. Brunner threw Percy the pen/ magic sword and Percy attacked the Fury and vaporized her.	Mr. Brunner threatened the Fury and she flew away. After that, he gave Percy the ‘pen’.
Percy stayed in the Hermes cabin as his godly parent was still unknown.	They already knew he was a son of Poseidon before he arrived at camp. He never stayed at the Hermes cabin.
Yancy Academy was a private boarding school.	Yancy Academy was a public school.
Annabeth Chase had curly blond hair and gray eyes.	She had straight dark brown hair and blue eyes.
Annabeth met her mother before when she went to Olympus with other campers during the winter solstice.	Annabeth told Percy that she never met her mother. It wasn’t mentioned that she had gone to Olympus before.
Before Percy went for the quest, he met the Oracle.	There was no Oracle mentioned and he wasn’t given a quest. (He snuck out).
According to Sally, Percy’s mom, his father had to leave before he was born.	Poseidon left Percy and his mom when Percy was seven months old.
Percy had black hair and green eyes like his father.	Percy had blue eyes and Poseidon’s hair was light brown/blonde and had blue eyes.
Grover went unconscious on the way to camp, inside Gabe’s car, when the Minotaur attacked them.	He kicked the door of the car open and guided them towards camp.
Percy got both hands around one horn of the Minotaur until it snapped. He used it to kill the Minotaur afterwards.	The horn of the Minotaur got stuck on a tree and Percy took it and used it to kill the Minotaur.
Campers wore orange camp T-shirts	No orange camp T-shirts, just armors during trainings and casual clothes.
Mr. D, Dionysus, was the camp director.	He didn’t appear at camp, only during the summer solstice where the other Olympian gods were there as well.
Annabeth explained to Percy about the ADHD and Dyslexia.	Grover was the one who told Percy that his Dyslexia was because his mind was hardwired for ancient Greek and his ADHD was his battle reflexes.
Percy was teamed up with Annabeth and Luke during the Capture the Flag and Clarisse was on the opposite team.	Percy and Annabeth weren’t on the same team.
Clarisse dragged Percy towards the bathroom and bullied him. Percy was surprised himself when he was able to control the water and made it explode towards Clarisse and her company’s faces. The bathroom got flooded but Percy remained dry.	Clarisse wasn’t on the first film.
Percy went to Olympus alone and met only Zeus and Poseidon there.	Percy and Annabeth got to meet all the Olympian gods and they saw their godly parent for the first time.
Annabeth had an invisibility cap which was a gift from her mother.	There was no invisibility cap.
Percy, Grover and Annabeth rode a bus and then the three furies got on. Annabeth lent her cap to Percy.	There was only one Fury who appeared in the film and there was no invisibility cap.
The head of security in camp Half-blood was Argus and he had many eyes.	There was no Argus shown or mentioned in the film.
Luke had a scar on his cheek when he fought a dragon on his quest before.	Luke had no scar on his cheek until he fought with Percy and he gave him one.
Luke met his father once.	Luke had said that he never met his father.
Percy had never worn the flying shoes Luke gave him.	Percy had worn the flying sneakers when he took the pearl on the statue of Athena and when he was in a fight with Luke.
Hades was after the Helm of Darkness as it was stolen as well aside from Zeus’s lightning bolt.	Hades appeared on Camp Half-Blood, demanding Percy to give him the lightning bolt of Zeus.
The lightning bolt was in the back pack of Percy that was given by Ares.	The lightning bolt was hidden in the shield that Luke gave Percy.
Ares had the Helm of Darkness and Percy challenged him into a duel in which Percy surprisingly won. Ares gave him a curse.	Ares wasn’t involved about the theft. He was shown in the film during the summer solstice together with the other Olympians.
Luke tried to kill Percy by calling on a scorpion. This happened after Percy’s quest and the stolen items were already given back to their owners.	Luke fought Percy when he appeared at the top of the Empire State building before Percy could go to the Olympus to return the bolt.
